Before you deposit

Castor vaults run on HyperEVM, the EVM chain of Hyperliquid. Before your first deposit you need three things: the HyperEVM network in your wallet, a small amount of HYPE for gas, and USDT0 on HyperEVM.

Draft guide based on the current Hyperliquid ecosystem. The exact recommended bridge, the minimum deposit, and the USDT0 token address on HyperEVM will be confirmed with the team and pinned here.

1. Add the HyperEVM network

Your wallet needs to know about HyperEVM. The fastest way is ChainList: connect your wallet, search "HyperEVM", and click Add to MetaMask. Some wallets (for example Rabby) already support HyperEVM out of the box.

If you prefer to add it manually, use these settings:

Network name: Hyperliquid EVM
RPC URL: https://rpc.hyperliquid.xyz/evm
Chain ID: 999
Currency symbol: HYPE
Block explorer: https://hyperevmscan.io

2. Get a little HYPE for gas

HYPE is the gas token on HyperEVM. Without a small amount of it in your wallet, you cannot sign any transaction (including approving or depositing USDT0). You only need a couple of dollars worth; it covers many transactions.

Two common ways to get it:

Bridge a small amount of HYPE directly to HyperEVM using a cross-chain bridge that supports HYPE as the output token.
Buy HYPE on Hyperliquid, then move it from HyperCore to HyperEVM (the two sides of Hyperliquid). On the Hyperliquid app you buy HYPE on the spot market, then transfer it to HyperEVM.

Tip: get your HYPE first. If you bridge USDT0 but have zero HYPE, you will not be able to do anything with it until you also have gas.

3. Bring your USDT0 to HyperEVM

Castor vaults take deposits in USDT0, so you need USDT0 on the HyperEVM network (chain 999). If your USDT0 is on another chain (for example Ethereum or Arbitrum), bridge it across.

Bridges that can deliver USDT0 straight to HyperEVM include:

Across (fast and low cost)
Eco Portal (bridges from many chains)
deBridge, Symbiosis, and other major bridges

On the bridge, select your source chain and USDT0 as the token, then set HyperEVM as the destination with USDT0 as the output.

Save on fees: bridging from a layer 2 such as Arbitrum is usually much cheaper and faster than bridging from Ethereum mainnet. And make sure the USDT0 lands on HyperEVM, not only on HyperCore. If a bridge only reaches HyperCore, you will need one extra step to move it to HyperEVM.
